Mesa Gonzalez Abogados is a Law Firm created more than fifty years ago by the reknowned lawer Humberto Mesa González. He graduated from Universidad Javeriana and has served as Superintendente Bancario, Judge of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court and Judge of the Electoral Court, amongst others. In 1970, he was appointed as a member in the commission designated to prepare the new Code of Commerce and was designated Vicepresident of the Association of expert lawyers in mines and oil. His most important expertise is in both legal advising in mining and commercial law, with emphasis in corporation and financial law.

Since 1989, his daughter Maria Luisa Mesa Zuleta, joined the law firm as a Partner. A lawyer who graduated from Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in 1982, joined the firm. after her experience in corporate law as employee of Superintendencia de Sociedades and in aviation matters as legal counsel for Avianca, the colombian airline. She is professor of corporate law in Universidad de Rosario since 2000 and teaches in the corporations magister (especializacion) in Universidad Javeriana.

The firm provides advice in the purchase, financing, leasing, and security, including applicable registrations and filings, for both private and commercial aircrafts. The experience includes sale-and-lease-back transactions, leveraged and cross border leases, and the acquisition and finance of more than 35 commercial aircraft and almost 50 private jets.

The Firm has provided advice to airlines on aeronautical issues and private corporations to buy, lease, finance and operate aircrafts registered in Colombia, in United States and in Barbados and represents companies before the Civil Aviation Authority in Colombia.

The firm also is well known for the advice in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions spin-off, shareholders agreements, with emphasis in family business structures, estate planing , trust and private foundations.
